Fire Emblem Shadows mobile launches today with social deduction

TL;DR:

  • Fire Emblem Shadows is out today on iOS and Android.
  • It blends real-time strategy with social deduction.
  • One of your three allies can secretly sabotage battles.
  • A “Winds of the Plains” season pass lands with launch.
  • Free-to-start, with optional in-app purchases.

On 25 September 2025, Nintendo released Fire Emblem Shadows on iOS and Android. It is a free-to-start spinoff that mixes real-time tactics with social deduction. Nintendo Life reports the game was shadow-dropped globally in more than 70 regions, with support for 10 languages. The title is co-developed with Intelligent Systems and DeNA.

How it plays

Each battle fields a trio of allies. According to Nintendo Everything’s summary of the official overview, one ally may secretly be a “disciple of shadow,” acting against the team. Players can queue up as a disciple of light to clear labyrinths, or as the traitor who misleads the group. Post-battle voting changes the difficulty and conditions of the next fight, so reading teammates is as key as your build.

Monetization and content cadence

Shadows is free-to-start with optional purchases. A launch-window season pass, Winds of the Plains, is available through 27 October 2025, hinting at short content cycles and early live-ops cadence.

Why it matters

Fire Emblem Heroes has sustained fans since 2017. Shadows tries a fresh hook that could broaden appeal to players who enjoy party deception games. If the social layer sticks, Nintendo may have a new evergreen mobile pillar next to Heroes.

Quick start checklist

  • Download on: App Store or Google Play.
  • Try both roles early to learn tells.
  • Use voice or fast chat to push votes.
  • Expect difficulty spikes after wrong votes.
  • Save purchases for builds you main.
